On May 28, 1950, he married Helen L. Duffroy. He served in the US Army during World War II with the 11th Airborne in Japan and the Phillipines. He received four Bronze Stars. Linton gets grant for fire truck

The Linton Fire Department received some good news Friday. The department was notified that it has received a $150,000 community development block grant for a new tanker truck. Linton Fire Chief Gary Tannehill explained, "We're very happy. The guys here put a lot of work into that (grant application)." The award ceremony is set for Dec. 8 at the statehouse in Indianapolis.

The old adage "every vote counts" has great relevance in the race for one remaining at-large spot on the Greene County Council. That was the news following a review of provisional and late-arriving military absentee ballots Friday afternoon by the Greene County Election Board. Democrat Rae Della Cravens now clings to a one-vote lead over Republican incumbent Ken Gremore for the third of three at-large seats that were on the Nov. 4 General Election ballot. A recount vote appears to be a possibility, but Gremore told the Greene County Daily World on Friday evening that he is not yet ready to ask for a recount.
