Jeffers case a challenge, but a good example of justice

Greene Circuit Court Judge Erik Allen said the Jeffers case was very challenging for all involved but in the end, was a good example of how the justice system works well. Jeffers sentenced in Greene Circuit Court

John A. Jeffers was sentenced Friday morning to five years, with two suspended, for his conviction of neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, a class C felony. That leaves three to serve but under the terms of a negotiated plea agreement which was accepted by the court, Jeffers was to be incarcerated for only two years and any time beyond the two years was to be served in a community corrections program....

Vandeventer arrested, accused of six felony counts involving child molestation

Vandeventer was taken into custody late Friday afternoon by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Terry Wade after a warrant was issued for Vandeventer's arrest around 4 p.m. The 49-year-old Switz City man, who serves as the Chaplain at Greene County General Hospital, was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 6 p.m. on six preliminary felony counts of child molestation involving four different children....
