A 60-year-old Bloomfield man was treated at Greene County General Hospital Monday evening following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Road 157 and County Road 425N, north of Bloomfield. Bad weather hit the Greene County area for a fourth day in a row Monday evening. Severe thunderstorms moved across Greene County on Monday around 7 p.m. and dumped between three-quarters of an inch and 1.5 inches of rain in less than 30 minutes. "If we get some severe weather (Tuesday), it will be the fifth day in a row with an active warning," Jessica Hayes with the WTHI-TV weather department said Tuesday morning. Hayes noted that the Wabash Valley has received almost 4 inches of rain so far this month, and 20.90 for the year. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Greene and surrounding counties through Wednesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible by Wednesday morning. The NWS also noted that many areas south of Interstate 70 have received between 2 and 4 inches of rain the past four days. Greene County Emergency Management Director Roger Axe said he's been spending time preparing for the possibility of major flooding.

The golf season continues for several members of the Linton-Stockton boys golf team who are taking part in the Mountain Dew Tour. The first two events of the summer were held at Oak Meadow Golf Club and the Country Club of Old Vincennes. Velma R. Knowles, 90, of Linton, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at Lyons Health & Living Community. She was born in Greene County to Erving M. and Bessie Mae (Padgett) Tincher on Dec. 10, 1919. On December 3, 1936 she married John L. Knowles and they had three daughters. Velma was a cook at area restaurants, retiring in 1963. She was a member of Pleasantville Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Her hobbies included fishing and card playing. -

Storm blows through the county for the fifth day
