Lyons home destroyed by fire (Local News ~ 06/25/10)
LYONS -- John Stanley was preparing to serve his country when he found his house on fire Friday. Stanley and his wife, Franki, along with their two children -- 4-year-old Brandon and 2-year-old Grace -- live at 255 North Walnut St. in Lyons. "He was headed over to get his (National) Guard stuff, and when he came back it was already fully engulfed," Franki Stanley said at the scene while watching firemen battle the blaze. Stanley is a member of Indiana National Guard Company A, 1-151st Combat Team, based in Linton. The Lyons Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 12:09 p.m., followed by the Switz City Volunteer Fire Department at 12:14 p.m. The Linton Fire Department and Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched at 12:24 p.m. Stanley believes the first signs of smoke came around 11:30 a.m.
