Concert raises enough to fund scholarship

Linton Community Development Corporation (LCDC) President Jared Albright introduced Saturday's Country/Bluegrass concert with a thank you to all those attending, and Stoll's Country Inn as the presenting sponsor. GOSPORT -- A year after missing the cut to go to the boys golf regional, the Linton-Stockton Miners placed third here Monday at the Owen Valley Sectional and earned at trip to Thursday's Washington Regional at Country Oaks in Montgomery. Terre Haute South was the sectional champion with a total of 290. Terre Haute North carded a 299 and the Miners finished with a 317, defeating fourth-place Sullivan by nine strokes... -

James A. 'Jimmy O' O'Bryan, 76, of Linton, IN passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011, at Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Taylorville, IL, on August 27, 1934, to James B. and Ruthie (Pope) O'Bryan. Jimmy O. served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He is survived by two brothers and one sister. His family is following his wishes with cremation. Commissioners move forward with bridge repairs

The Greene County Commissioners moved forward Monday morning with plans to renovate three county bridges that are in need of immediate repairs. Commissioner's president Steve Lindsey said he will ask the county council at its next meeting June 27 to consider an appropriation out of the Cumulative Bridge Fund to pay for the trio of bridges, which he said are on the county's "Top 6" list of sub-standard bridges...
