Linton Police Department has announced results of its recent "Safe Family Travel" enforcement blitz, saying that 61 seat belt citations and one alcohol-related arrest were made during the two-week effort. LINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY LOG The Linton Police Department log for Dec. 6 included: One personal injury traffic accident; one report of a prowler; one domestic battery case; one extra patrol; and one ordinance violation. A 1996 Buick, driven by 48-year-old Danean Coffey, of Linton, was traveling west on State Road 54 and told police that she saw a yellow-colored dog run across the road and she hit her brakes to avoid hitting the animal. ...

The Linton Police Department is accepting applications for the 2012 Citizen's Academy, which must be turned in by Jan. 1. "The biggest benefit of the Citizen's Academy is getting an inside look and better understanding of the process law enforcement go through to get a conviction," LPD Chief Troy Jerrell explained. The body of an elderly Linton woman reported missing since Wednesday night was found Thursday morning. Margaret "Marg" Doane's body was discovered at approximately 10 a.m. She was 77.
