Linton Mayor John Wilkes somewhat took on the role of 'bill collector' on behalf of the city Monday afternoon. Wilkes requested that the county approve an additional appropriation totaling more than $83,000 that is owed for the providing of rescue/ambulance services last year...

The Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center of Greene County took local art to a new level last weekend with its first juried art show. The show featured artist from the county with pieces accepted for the show. Donna Kluesner, who serves as president of the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center, said an outside professional was brought in to judge the pieces and choose a winner out of the accepted pieces...

Johnny F. McCarter, 46, Bloomfield, has been extradited from Licking County, Ohio and returned to Greene County where he is facing four class A felony counts of child molesting. Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Davis Aerne was dispatched to make the trip to Ohio to transport the suspect. McCarter was booked into the Greene County Jail around 5 p.m. Monday...

A warrant was issued late last week for the arrest of Brandon Lee Kendall, 25, of Linton, on preliminary charges of two counts of class D felony theft. Before he was picked up in that case, Linton police officers were dispatched to Regions Bank about a suspect, who turned out to be Kendall, attempting to cash a questionable check, and now he's facing several more serious charges...

John R. Brown Jr., 91, of Bedford, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, in Bedford. Born June 17, 1922 in Sullivan, IN, he was the son of John R. Brown Sr. and Mary M. (Hayden) Brown. He married Linda L. (Stewart) Brown on Feb. 12, 1972; and she survives...

The Linton-Stockton junior varsity football team posted a 16-6 win over Sullivan Monday night.
