Carnegie begins work on handicapped accessible entrance

Work is underway in a new handicapped accessible doorway on the north side of the Carnegie Heritage & Arts Center. The automatic doorway is being installed by Kluesner Construction Company of Linton. Carnegie board member Tony Kluesner said the handicapped doorway will be a wonderful addition and will allow more people to visit the arts center. Dance will kick off Shawnee's Festival of Trees Saturday

A man accused of stealing a car in Linton over the weekend was taken into custody when he walked into the sheriff's department in Daviess County. Ray G. Rose, Jr., 32, was later booked into the Greene County Jail, then bonded out, and is scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court for an initial hearing next week when he'll be charged with auto theft, a class D felony.....

MSD Shakamak Board facing substantial increase in health insurance costs

JASONVILLE -- The MSD of Shakamak School Board is shopping for a new health insurance carrier after receiving notification that premiums were going to increase $310,000 a year starting with a December renewal date. Supt. Mike Mogan said his school district is not the only one facing a dilemma with spiraling health insurance costs, but said the board's insurance committee, which plans to meet on Tuesday, is seriously going to try and find a replacement for current carrier United Health Care.....
