Last Friday afternoon, a couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony performed in the Clerk's Office at the Greene County Courthouse, minus one member of the wedding party who was unable to attend, because he got busted for pot when he went through courthouse security.....

April 10 -- Mark Andrew Irons, 23, Jasonville, was arrested on preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and criminal mischief. The Mitchell at Eastern Greene softball game has been rescheduled once again. After a make-up date of April 17 was set, the game has now been moved to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 24 because of a conflict with Mitchell's Academic Awards night.

Kyler Fulford had a career night to lead the Shakamak baseball team to a quick victory at home Thursday. Fulford went 3-for-3 with a grand slam home run, a 3-run dinger and an RBI single to finish with eight RBIs as the Class A No. 1 Lakers defeated visiting Cloverdale 10-0. Sullivan captured doubles, but host White River Valley swept singles as the Lady Wolverines opened the season with a 3-2 victory over the Lady Arrows in a high school girls tennis match at Switz City Thursday. Eastern Greene opened the high school boys golf season with three wins in the past 24 hours. On Thursday afternoon at Crane, the Thunderbirds shot a 199, Washington Catholic had a 204 and North Daviess fired a 206. On their home course at Hidden Hills Wednesday, EGHS defeated White River Valley 177-234 in the season-opener for both squads...

JASONVILLE -- Retirements filled the agenda of the Metropolitan School District of Shakamak's monthly board meeting Thursday night. Retirements were accepted from Rick Hobbs, Carol Tuttle and Phyllis Jacob. Hobbs has spent 28 years teaching at Shakamak, while Tuttle has a tenure of 36 years. Jacob has worked in the school's cafeteria for 34 years.....
