Bloomfield was leading host North Daviess 2-0 in the championship match of the North Daviess boys tennis sectional Friday. Play will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Kids were out bright and early Saturday morning to engage in serious competition during the 2014 Bloomfield Apple Festival Pedal Tractor Pull Contest in the Bloomfield Park. Winners included: First place winner Hank Todd pulling 65 pounds in a full pull; second place winner Emmy Todd pulling 68 pounds in a full pull; third place winner Waylen Hasler pulling 60 pounds in a full pull; fourth place winner Breoken Price pulling 48 pounds in a full pull; fifth place winner Keaton Wilson pulling 32 pounds for a distance of 12' 9"; and sixth place winner Johnathan pulling 35 pounds for a distance of 6'.. ...

A parade of dogs and cats, and their favorite people, attended the annual Pet Contest and Parade on Saturday morning at the 2014 Bloomfield Apple Festival. Several awards were handed out, including: In the parade of dogs: Jude Myers and Jack, a Scottie, for best dressed dog; Clara Lynch and Lucy Justin, a golden retriever, for fuzziest dog; Heidi Seymour and Penny, a beagle, for the happiest dog; and Zack Maddox and Sadie Mae, a mixed breed, for the friendliest dog...

This year's Apple Festival Baking Contest took place by the Main Stage Saturday morning. The contest was split into two age groups: 35 and under, and over 35, with two categories in each age division. These categories include Apple Pie and Apple Specialty. An apple specialty is any recipe that is baked and contains apples but is not a pie. This year, there were sixteen total apple recipes in the contest.....

Hundreds of people will line the streets of Bloomfield on Sunday to enjoy the annual Apple Festival Parade, which kicks off at 2 p.m. The parade begins on Spring Street in front of Bloomfield Junior/Senior High School and travels east to Franklin Street. The route turns south on Franklin Street, goes past the Main Branch of the Bloomfield Eastern Greene Public Library and continues on down Franklin Street to the intersection of Franklin Street and Mill Street.....

The Bloomfield boys and Eastern Greene girls captured team titles in the SWIAC junior high cross country meet at Shakamak Saturday. Bloomfield placed six boys in the top ten finishers, led by Dylan Richardson, the individual champion who ran the Shakamak course in ten minutes and thirty-five seconds...

JASONVILLE - The Shakamak boys and girls cross country teams swept team honors in the SWIAC conference cross country meet here Saturday. The team titles were especially satisfying for Lakers boys coach Zack Whitkanack and girls coach Mark Messmer. Juat five weeks ago in the Greene County Invitational the Laker boys finished fourth as a team, with the Lady Lakers running second behind Bloomfield.....
