Linton Rotary members are using a simple bean bag toss game to raise money for the organization's annual community Christmas dinner. On Saturday, the group will host a corn hole tournament at Saron United Church of Christ. The tournament begins at 1 p.m. Registration fees are $10 per person or $15 for a team of two. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first place team, and door prizes will be handed out...

The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce is working hard on the Fourth annual Bloomfield Hometown Christmas Event, which is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. and will be located on and around the square in Bloomfield. Greene County General Hospital is pleased to welcome Kyle Cross as Coordinator of the Greene County General Hospital Foundation. Cross, a 2007 graduate of White River Valley High School, is a life-long resident of Greene County. He graduated from Vincennes University in 2012, then from Indiana State University in 2014. ...

Gregory E. Shotts, 55, of Indianapolis formerly of Linton, passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2014. Greg was born September 18, 1959 the son of the late Gordon Shotts and Julialene (Cooksey) Scott. After serving his country with the United States Army, he was honorably discharged. ...

David E. Bull, age 68, of Freedom, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Dayton, Ind. on November 30, 1945, the son of Wilson W. and Liala O. Bull. He attended Purdue University. He was the former owner of D & C Truck Sales, Honeybakers Restaurant in Worthington, and Cobblestone Log Homes. He and his wife Peggy currently own and operate Brown County Getaways...

Light snow sticking to roadways across Greene County Thursday evening caused slick driving conditions and was blamed as the cause of at least one crash. The Greene County Sheriff's Department, Taylor Township Fire Department and the Greene County Ambulance Service responded to a minor accident on State Road 58 at Harp Road in southern Greene County shortly before midnight Thursday.....

As part of their "It Can Wait" Campaign, AT&T Indiana External Affairs Director Pepper Mulherin visited the Shakamak High School to teach students the risks of texting while behind the wheel of a vehicle. AT&T conducted commuter survey and their results indicated that 49 percent of drivers admit that they text while driving, even though 98 percent of them also said they were aware that it wasn't safe to do so.....

Vigo County -- The owner of Graham Security Patrol, and his son, were arrested Friday by Indiana State Police detectives on numerous felony allegations that included bribery, official misconduct and theft. On Friday afternoon, Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post arrested the two security patrol officers on numerous felony counts. The two were arrested at their respective homes on warrants issued out of Vigo County. They were incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail.....

Sold. That's what the realty sign outside of the former Stoll's Country Inn says. On Thursday, Andrew and Erica (Hobbs) Wring purchased the restaurant. In the coming weeks, the restaurant will reopen, this time as a barbecue joint dubbed Wring's Smokehouse and Country Store.....

Saturday is a big day for deer hunters in Greene County - one they look forward to all year long. It's the opening day of firearms season and large numbers of hunters are expected to be out in the woods early. According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Indiana deer hunters should expect another productive season in 2014, although they may see fewer deer than in previous years when the firearms season begins Nov. 15.....

Greene County lost a hero on Friday. After a short illness, Jjackson, the retired Military K-9 who has spent the last eight months with his old friend and former military handler Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Harvey Holt, drew his last breath and bid farewell.....
