After being drained almost completely last year for a restoration project, West Boggs Lake in Loogootee is full again, several months ahead of schedule. Last fall, the lake was drawn down to about 10 percent of its normal volume so that biologists from the DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife could renovate the lake's fishery. The lake had been invaded by gizzard shad, which had stunted bluegill growth and caused bass numbers to decline...

BLOOMFIELD -- Bloomfield IGA owner Larry Williams has announced the store will be closing its doors by the end of the month. Williams, who purchased the store last May, says the business never reached the potential he believed was possible. "It was just a lack of sales," Williams said. "We just never got the level of sales we needed in the community to pay the bills.".....

James A. Flynn, Sr., age 85, of Linton, passed away Tuesday morning, April 7, 2015, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Calvertville, the son of Roy Joseph and Dora (Meurer) Flynn. He was a member of Carpenter's Union #133, the American Legion of Lyons, and Masonic Lodge #560 of Linton. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War...

Keith G. Long, 85, died at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on April 6, 2015, of complications from leukemia. He was born on December 16, 1929, in Cain, Illinois. His parents were George Franklin Long and Anna Mable Riley Long. He graduated from Park City High School in Park City, Kentucky. He attended Indiana State University and Indiana University. He retired from Indiana Department of Transportation, and later he was the minister of Furnace Christian Church in Bloomfield, Indiana...

Shakamak's Braxton Yeryar tossed a two-hitter as the Lakers defeated visiting Terre Haute North 4-2 in a high school baseball game Monday. Yeryar fanned 13 and walked five.
