Woman, child suffer injuries after being struck by vehicle

A woman and her young son were struck by a vehicle on Friday as they walked down a street in Linton. A police report filed by Linton Police Officer Orry Phipps says the incident occurred on K Street Southeast near 12th Street at 5:44 p.m. The report states the driver, Elizabeth Park, 20, of Franklin, was traveling westbound on K Street and she reported the sun was in her eyes and she could not see well...

Carole A. Dibble, 71, of Bloomfield passed away on Sunday, May 15 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Carole was born July 3, 1944 in Bayonne, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Joe Furlong and Florence LeHowe. County Council agrees to temporarily cover retirement fund issue

The Greene County Council voted to temporarily cover the funds not taken from deputies' pay for the Sheriff's Department Retirement Fund, which was caused by a clerical error. County Auditor Patty Baker explained in 2014, it was agreed to increase the Greene County Sheriff's Department deputies' contribution to their retirement fund from 3 percent to 5 percent. Business Personal Property exemption forms due

Those who could be eligible for the business personal property exemption must apply for it through the Assessor's Office by the end of the month. Greene County Assessor Dawn Abrams said those with a property valuation less than $20,000 could be eligible for an exemption, but it is not automatic.
