Eastern Greene Elementary School applauds its heroes

Eastern Greene Elementary has created a fun new way to reward good acts committed by its students. Called the "Hero Walk," it is the brainchild of Principal Sharon Abts and School Counselor Dawn Sullivan. School staff worked from last spring and over the summer to come up with ideas to enhance school climate, and Abts also credits an existing program, "Star Students," in which students were recognized for growth and for using positive behaviors, led for several years by School Counselor Dawn Sullivan, as being inspiration for the hero idea.. ...

Mom prom: dine, dance and donate

The sixth annual Mom Prom invites all ladies to dine, dance and donate to the Greene County Victim Advocacy program as well as training and education for sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE) at the Greene County General Hospital. Victim Advocate Vickie Aydt ,along with the Greene County's Sexual Assault Response Team (SART),organize the event to not only benefit the cause, but to dedicate a night for women only to dress-up, fun and help bring awareness to the options and places victims can go to for support.. ...

Magic tree house coming to Linton Library

A 'magic' tree house will be coming to the Linton Library, providing a unique place to not only play, but read a good book. Funded by the book sale and purchased at a discounted price from local Wal-mart, the tree house and stand will be finished within the week and moved to its permanent location in the children's department by Sept. 1...
