BLOOMFIELD -- The Bloomfield boys opened the 2016-17 basketball campaign the best way possible: with a win. Bloomfield steadily, methodically scored points to hand Owen Valley (0-2) a 55-40 defeat in the Cardinals’ season opener. Bloomfield coach Jamie Hudson said the Cardinal offense was a bit slow in the beginning, but he attributed that to the players adjusting to a new offense and players adapting to new positions...

Mary Alice Foulke, 94, formerly of Brazil, passed away Saturday Nov. 26, 2016 at the Glenburn Home in Linton, Ind. She was born in West Terre Haute, Ind. on Feb. 13, 1922 to the late William and Lela (Cox) Broadhurst. Mary Alice graduated from Paris High School in 1940 and later earned her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Indiana State University. She married Wayne Foulke on June 17, 1946...

Seath Lee Stevenson, 34, of Louisville, Ky. and formerly of Jasonville, passed away at his residence Friday, Nov. 25, 2016. He was born in Long Pointe, Texas, March 14, 1982 the son of John Stevenson and Tracy Villain. Seath graduated from Shakamak High School in 2000 and was employed for Curtis Roadside in Louisville...

Gerald Forbes, 87, of Newburgh, Ind. formerly of Shelburn, Ind., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016. He was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Sullivan, Ind. to Andrew and Cora (McDaniel) Forbes.
