LITTLE CINCINNATI -- At one point in the second quarter, the Thunderbirds trailed by only one point, but visiting Barr-Reeve turned up the defensive heat in the second half and routed Eastern 62-40. The Vikings (6-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 2A basketball) led 21-20 in the second quarter, but closed with an 11-5 run to take a 32-25 halftime lead. GIRLS BASKETBALL Bloomfield jumped on host Springs Valley for a 27-14 halftime lead Thursday night and held on for a 49-42 win. Everybody had a good time Saturday afternoon as Eastern romped over visiting North Daviess 51-28. Eastern coach Zack Stevens said all the Lady Thunderbirds enjoyed themselves on the court for the first time this season. While southern Indiana may have basked with temperatures in the mid 60's, it has been a different story for the central northern portions of Indiana.
