Commissioners approve lease resolution for jail project

The Greene County Commissioners voted to move forward with a resolution which will allow the county to lease the land for the proposed jail expansion from the Building Corporation. Attorney Marilyn Hartman explained this process of “funding the project indirectly” by paying a lease to Building Corporation as the owners of the land is possible through a Supreme Court ruling. This would make the jail project a “current obligation,” rather than “long-term debt,” she explained...
