BLOOMFIELD — The musical Little Shop of Horrors opens for a special two-week run Thursday, July 5. “It is a fun show. Betty Jean Grounds, 91, of Bloomington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday June 30, 2018 at the Hearthstone Health Campus. Betty was born January 29, 1927 in Westphalia, and was the daughter of the late Ervin and Esther (Harting) Tiek. Betty graduated from Linton-Stockton High School with the Class of 1945. She worked as a secretary with the Purdue Extension Office and later retired from the Monroe County Health Department...

Jeri Lea Wampler, 68, of Linton, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Brown County Health and Living. She was born on March 10, 1950 to Paul and Mary (Moore) Wampler. Jeri attended IU Elementary and Bloomington High School South. She later obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. Jeri was a teacher, who taught kindergarten through third-grade students at Eastern Greene Elementary School for 37 years...

In other hot weather news, Scott Yoho issued a pool update in response to Carmichael asking if the projected opening date of the pool was still July 16. “I think the tentative date is the sixteenth, weather permitting,” said Yoho. “I know we’re in the process of taking applications. We’re having an interview Thursday night for manager out there. I don’t know how many for sure have applied for lifeguard, but that’s kind of where we’re at.”
