The Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds has been packed full of families working together this week, and for some, the tradition goes back generations. Lacy Kantor spent Wednesday morning scraping out a pig pen, waiting for her 9-year-old 4-H’er Aubree to get back from working with their other animals...

Just like many Greene County families, our staff has spent much of this week at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds watching local youth show off their hard work during fair week. As we make way between the show rings, arenas and animal barns, there is one thing that stands out: The young 4-H’ers are not the only ones putting in the hard work...

Our Pet of the Week this week is Calvin. Calvin is a 1-2 year-old domestic shorthair cat. Calvin is neutered and current on shots. The staff at the Greene County Humane Society said Calvin is very friendly and is trained to walk on a leash. The fee to adopt Calvin is the best part. The White River Valley Board of School Trustees, in a public meeting held Thursday evening, gave an update on several summer projects and announced student registration dates for the 2018-19 school year. WRV Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Hacker said the installation of new ceiling and video surveillance equipment at WRV Middle School is complete, giving Hacker, among other capabilities, the option to remotely view almost any area of the schools. ...

The coaching carousel continues to turn. And a Bloomfield native son will be migrating some 30 miles east on U.S. 50 from Vincennes to Montgomery. Josh Thompson is set to become the next head basketball coach of the Barr-Reeve Vikings. Thompson spent the last two seasons at Vincennes Lincoln and will replace long-time coach Bryan Hughes, who announced his retirement earlier this month. The Barr-Reeve school board called a special session Friday afternoon where Thompson’s hiring was officially approved.

Multiple sources have confirmed Bloomfield High School basketball coach Jamie Hudson has resigned. News of Hudson’s resignation was first reported by Rick Semmler of WTHI-TV Sports 10 last night. Coach Hudson’s departure comes after just two seasons at the Bloomfield helm. ...
