The Linton-Stockton Miners hope to end the 2018 regular season on a positive note this Friday. The Miners (4-4) travel to Clarksville to take on the Providence Pioneers (6-2). And the defending 2A Sectional 39 champion Pioneers promise to provide a stiff test for Linton in its final tuneup for the postseason...

The Greene County Commissioners are looking into getting the properties from the Blight Elimination Program back onto the tax rolls. Commissioner Rick Graves said of the 27 properties cleaned up under the scope of the project, five have been sold back to the original property owners. He asked Attorney Marilyn Hartman about putting signs in the yard for the remaining 22 properties in Linton, Jasonville and Lyons...

Power outage in the Northeast and Southeast sections of Linton. Utility crews are working to restore power now. Linton Police Department press release states no estimated time frame on how long those will be without power at this time.

Delma Louise Drake, age 91, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. She was born in Tulip on Oct. 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Ray Estel Harshman and Faughn Della (Blaker) Harshman...

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to 145 incidents and calls for service from Oct 1-6, including one abandoned vehicle, 12 property damage accidents, six personal injury accidents, four alarms, six animal complaints, seven assists to other departments, 12 assists to the public, three battery, one burglary, one child neglect, two civil disputes, one civil paper service, two criminal mischief, eight domestic disputes, two EMS, one fight in progress, one harassment, one juvenile complaint, one property, two missing persons, one open door, one property damage, four reckless drivers, one residential entry, three road hazards, one sex offense, one shooting complaint, one attempted suicide, 13 suspicious, eight thefts, three threats, one title check, six traffic stops, 16 transports, six trespass, two unruly subjects and one welfare check.. ...

Wednesday, October 10 Tots Time will be held in the Eastern Branch of the Bloomfield Eastern Greene Public Library at 10:30 a.m. The theme will be “red”. Thursday, October 11 Linton Public Library will host Camp Read S’more from 1-3:45 p.m. The event is camp-themed fun for the whole family with games, crafts, snacks, songs and stories around the “campfire.”...

The regular season is in the rearview mirror and the postseason has arrived. Volleyball sectional play begins Thursday at two area sites. The regular portion of the schedule concluded Thursday. Eastern-Greene will have to stop a monster Friday night to win the Battle of the Thunderbirds. The Little Cincinnati T-Birds (5-2) will have to contain senior running back Dawson Basinger when they travel to Farmersburg at 7:00 p.m. Friday to take on the North Central Thunderbirds (6-1). Eastern will aim to ”four-peat” as Southwest Indiana Conference champions...

This Friday’s game between visiting Eastern-Greene and North Central may be the last championship game for the Southwest Indiana Conference. Eastern coach Travis Wray said Tuesday afternoon that the conference’s coaches will formally vote Wednesday on whether to continue Southwest Indiana. Wray noted conference member Wood Memorial canceled its season after only 17 boys reported in July. He added that North Knox has decided to join another conference...
