DUGGER -- The Bulldog proved mightier than the Tiger Friday night. Union took a 6-0 lead after two innings, and the Lady Bulldogs pounded the visiting Hutsonville (IL) Lady Tigers 10-3. Madison Marlow went the distance on the mound for Union and was as hot as an atomic blast. She struck out 13 batters to get the win, including fanning the side in the second inning. She also struck out three in the first frame, although Hutsonville placed two runners on thanks to a walk and an error...

DUGGER -- Bradley Padgett threw a no-hitter, Eastern-Greene took the fifth, and the Thunderbirds broke their curse Friday night with a 12-0 win over host Union. The Thunderbirds (1-7) won their first game of the season due to Padgett’s arm and 11 runs in the fifth inning. As the T-Birds walked off the field, a grinning Padgett told some spectators: “The curse is over. We won.”...

It was double the pleasure, double the fun for the Linton Miners baseball team. In a Saturday twin bill at Linton’s Roy Herndon Field the Miners buried the Orleans Bulldogs (4-8) 11-0 in four-and-a-half innings in the morning lid-lifter. At high noon the Miners tamed the Edgewood Mustangs 7-5, handing Edgewood (10-2) just its second loss this season...
