Nancy Ann East, age 83, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 6:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at IU Health, Bloomington. She was born in Bedford on January 3, 1937, the daughter of Emil Reichman & Nova (Allen) Reichman. Nancy was a graduate of Bedford High School. She has worked many different jobs over the years but most would know her as the lovely receptionist at Bloom Bank. She loved going bowling when she and Mike were younger and they loved traveling together after their retirements...

AG Curtis Hill draws attention to federal court ruling, says COVID-19 restrictions must be constitutional

Attorney General Curtis Hill said today that leaders in all states should take notice of a federal court decision that declared certain COVID-19 orders issued by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf unconstitutional. According to court documents, the United States District Court For the Western District of Pennsylvania Judge William Stickman IV ruled that the governor’s limitation on the size of gatherings violates the First Amendment “right of assembly," the stay-at-home and business closure orders “violate the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment," and the business closure components of the governor’s order violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.. ...

DNR welcomes public to celebrate September 26-27

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced that National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort involving public lands, will be observed on Saturday, Sept. 26. During that weekend, Hoosiers can celebrate by doing volunteer work at their favorite DNR property or by simply visiting their favorite outdoor areas for some outdoor recreation with family and friends. ...
