Linton American Legion Post 22 held their annual awards ceremony on Thursday, April 8, 2021. With last year’s activities restricted by the COVID-19 pandemic, members enjoyed the novelty of meeting in public again with few restrictions. The ceremony was held just before a regular meeting at the Legion Post, and was led by Russell Cornelius and Bob Brinson. Post Commander Gary Roberts was recovering from a previous illness and remained in the audience...

For White River Valley track and field, the 2021 season is a chance to make up for a lost season in 2020. “Last year was just weird not being able to have track,” Coach Conner Hill said. “I think the kids are excited. You can tell not having a season got them down too, which it did everyone. Things are looking back up and hopefully we will be able to do some good things.”...

Patricia Ann “Pat” (Oare) Griffith, 92, of Jasonville, passed away at 2:23 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born February 20, 1929 in Terre Haute to Norman R. Oare and Lucille (Loudermilk) Oare. Patricia married Courtney Dale Griffith on October 18, 1947. He passed away on March 15, 2009...

For Coach Jamie Brown, the Linton tennis program has grown from nothing into something. “My first year we didn’t have tennis courts. Since then, we’ve gotten tennis courts and I feel that right there has shown how serious the program is becoming,” Brown said...

Linton has a new athletic director in Darrin Clayton as he was formally hired in Monday’s school board meeting. Clayton will take over on July 1st for Charlie Karaszia. Karaszia is retiring after 22 years in the position as he had been involved in Linton athletics dating back to 1976...
