Recently, the cadets in the NJROTC unit at Bloomfield High School traveled to Gulfport, Miss., where, on February 10, they reported to Special Boat Team 22 (SBT-22) at Stennis Space Center and spent two days learning about Navy Special Operations units known as “Special Operations Combatant Craft Crewmen” and US Navy SEALS, participated in river rescue training, visited the Space Center, cleaned up a beach in the Gulf of Mexico before heading into the water to play, resuming the next day’s activities in Slidell, Louisiana, where they hiked through the Honey Island Swamp to practice their navigation skills, visited the historic USS Alabama and feasted on Cajun cuisine.. ... -
