Karl S. Jeffries, 84, of Scotland, passed away at 9:45 am on Monday, June 18, 2007, at the Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons.
Born June 29, 1922 in Oolitic, he was the son of William E. and Nora (Puckett) Jeffries. He married Mary M. Stevens on July 3, 1964 and she survives.
He retired from NWSC CRANE as an ordinance man and held various other jobs. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army and was a member of the V.F.W. Post at Crane.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Scotland; one son, William Jeffries and his wife, Dusti of Scotland; a foster daughter, Virginia Rodriguez of Ft. Meyers, FL; one brother, Paul Jeffries and his wife, Carol of Carlisle, IN; a half-brother, James Jeffries of Paris Crossing, IN; one sister, Barbara Jeffries of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Hackney and Edna Sears; three brothers, Russell Dale "Jimmy", Orville and Glen L. Jeffries; a half-brother, Herman Jeffries and a half-sister, Dovye Bundy.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the New Union Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Pickett officiating. Burial will follow. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the V.F.W. Post at Crane.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1:30 pm on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford.
