Robert "Bob" Young, 74, of Evansville, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Born Nov. 25, 1932, in Cairo, IL, he was the son of Lawrence and Alta Marie Young. He was a graduate of Cairo High School. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War. He was a 30-year member of Calvary Baptist Church and had worked as a time keeper for the United States Post Office for 42 years.
Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Lovye (Bedwell) Young of Evansville; one daughter, Debra Lynn Payne and her husband, Mark, of Evansville; one son, Charles Edward Young and his wife, Tammy, of Linton; four grandchildren, Chris and Ethan Payne and Allison and Joel Young; two sisters, Dorothy Gustafson and Margaret Appleton, both of Abilene, Texas; two brothers, Ralph Young of Waverly, Ill., and Paul Young of Anna, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Pike.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (central time) Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., in Evansville with the Rev. Allan Pollock and Pastor Dan Sigler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will perform military rites.
