Ricky Lee Vandeventer, 46, of Bloomfield passed away at 8:55 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Aug. 18, 1960 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, he was the son of Reed and Ruby (Heaton) Vandeventer.
He worked at the former White's Grocery Store in Bloomfield for several years. He then went to work for K-Mart and Kroger's, both in Bloomington. After that, he worked at the IGA in Ellettsville before coming to the Bloomfield IGA, where he worked for a number of years. He was Santa's helper around Christmas for several years. He was a member of the Bloomfield Jaycee's and the Word of Life Fellowship Church in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include his mother Ruby Vandeventer of Bloomfield; two sisters Edna Minks and Mabel Keller both of Bloomfield; one brother, Bob Vandeventer of Bloomfield; his girlfriend, Leah Swan of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reed E. Vandeventer; one brother Larry Vandeventer; and one brother-in-law Gene Minks.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Word of Life Fellowship Church in Bloomfield with Pastor Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 9 a.m. until the hour of ser vice at the church.
