Joseph A. Sullivan, 68, of Linton, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born in Indianapolis on Oct. 30, 1938, he was the son of Patrick and Claira (Hornburger) Sullivan.
On March 29, 1964, he married Kay A. Ax, who survives.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he graduated from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington in 1966, and was a practicing attorney-at-law for 40 years. He was elected Greene County prosecutor, serving from 1983-1986 and served numerous times as Judge Pro Tem in both the Greene Circuit and Superior courts. He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 22 and a charter member of the VFW Post No. 7118, a member of the Bloomfield IOOF Lodge No. 457, BPO Elks No. 866 of Linton and Right to Life.
Survivors include: his wife, Kay A. (Ax) Sullivan; one daughter, Erika A. Sullivan of Linton; one son, Jonathan C. (Dianne) Sullivan of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters: Mary Rita Riley and Patricia (Ted) Wells, both of Indianapolis; mother-in-law, Kathryn M. Ax of Linton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Erik J. Sullivan.
Military graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with the Revs. Mike Roth and Hilary Vieck officiating. Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel of Linton is in charge of arrangements.
The family has named the Midwest Friends of Animals for memorial contributions in lieu of flowers.
