Man went the extra mile to help local woman

To the Editor:

While driving home from work on July 30, my van experienced a flat tire just east of Ridgeport. Despite the 85+ degree temperature, and the dangerous State Road 54 traffic, a nice gentleman stopped and offered assistance.

He, too, was heading home, but in the opposite direction. Instead of driving on, he turned around, came back, and helped.

This gracious man put my spare tire on only to determine it was too flat for reliable driving. He then proceeded to load my two car seats into his 2-seater sports car and drive me to Little Explorer's Day-care in Bloomfield.

Despite verbally thanking him, I just do not feel as if I have given enough gratitude for his generous assistance.

Fortunately, I did get his name, Bob Sturgeon. To those of you who work at Mectra Labs, please consider yourselves fortunate to work with such a giving man.

To Bob's family, thank you for your understanding when he arrived home late, sweaty and a little more tired. He made an unexpected situation much easier.

Thank you!

Kris Jarman
