Greene County YMCA says thanks for help

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

To The Editor:

The Greene County YMCA, soon to be Greene County Kids Count, Inc., would like to send out a big thank you to many in this community who have helped us out recently.

The Greene County YMCA/Greene County Kids Count Inc. provides youth programming currently to those in the Eastern Greene County Community.

Before I name those who have been so generous with their time, money and support, I would like to apologize to everyone for being so late in publicly thanking them. There is no excuse for the lack of promptness in sharing with the community those who have put so much of themselves into this great organization.

I would like to thank all of those who helped out with our Annual Campaign which kicked off with a pitch-in dinner and wrapped up with a pancake breakfast. The Greene County YMCA "Kids Count" Campaign raised $6,600 to help programming costs affordable and provide financial assistance to those who cannot afford to pay.

Among those who have supported the Greene County YMCA/Greene County Kids Count Inc. include: Sharon Abts, The Apple House, Jon Applegate, Ann Armstrong, Bobbie Jo and Dennis Carter, Janet Delong, Meghan and Steve Dowden, Tom and Teresa Ellis, Jim and Mary Fields, The Furniture Exchange, Cari and Josh Helms, Hill Top Ranch, Jeanne and Jimmie Holmes, Jennifer Jordan, Penny King, Dianne Knot, Dave and Pat Knoy, David and Doris Korb, Linda Lavender, Britt Miller, Becky Noel, Greg and Edna Randall, Dave and Beth Roberts, Leigh and Shane Roberts, Ann Schuler, Jeanne Taggart, Ginny Thompson, Bill and Karen Valentine, Hillary Walker, Sarah Ward, Karen White and Sharon Yarber.

If I left anyone out please know that you are appreciated.

I would also like to say thank you to Duke Energy and Roger Tomes for the recent grant to help out the Greene County YMCA. Greene County Kids count, Inc. School Age Care program.

Finally, I would like to thank the Greene County Foundation for the support they offer to the non-profits in the Greene County community. The non-profit workshops they offered this spring were a great help to those such as myself that can always use a little refreshing and revitalizing. We are lucky to have such a great community foundation.
