Joe Bill Stewart, 61, of Solsberry, passed away at 1a.m. on Sunday Aug. 12, 2007 at his residence.
Born May 20, 1946 in Bloomington, he was the son of Hansford "Hank" and Dollie Mae (Neal) Stewart.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a self-employed carpenter, and a member of the American Legion, and a volunteer fireman in Eastern Green County.
Surviving relatives include four children, Dianna and husband, Paul Matykunas of Jacksonville, FL, Vicki Phipps and Dennis Stewart, both of Bedford and Joe Bill Stewart II of Shelbyville; one sister, Jacqueline Cook of Bloomington; one brother, Robert Stewart of Smithville; several grandchildren; and two nieces Vicky Lynn and Petie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Greene County Chapel Cemetery with Brother Doyle Phipps officiating. Burial will follow. American Legion Post No. 196 of Bloomfield will conduct military graveside services.
Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
