George W. Davies, 76, of Dugger, passed away at 8:50 a.m.Thursday August 23, 2007 at Millers Merry Manor in Sullivan.
He was born April 6, 1931in Dugger to Phillip W. Davies Sr. and Mary Alice Edwards Davies.
A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Dugger Masonic Lodge, Sullivan Co. Shrine and the Hymera American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters: Alice Marcotte of Westville, and Teresa Yates of Sullivan; a brother: David Davies of Dugger; five grandchildren, Ann Marcotte Morrison, Jeremy Marcotte, Terri Wright Priest, Page Yates, and Zacary Davies; two great-grandchildren, Kristen and Kaitlyn Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Davies in 1984; his second wife, Pauline Davies in 1999; a son, William Davies in 1997; and a brother Phillip Davies.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Larry Kimmell and Bro. J.B. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Dugger Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Hymera and Shelburn American Legions. A Dugger Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
