Dorothy Marie (Holtsclaw) Burch Parkes, 85, of Bloomfield, passed away at 8 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 at her residence in Bloomfield.
Born July 21, 1921 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Tommy and Forrest (Williams) Holtsclaw.
She worked at NWSC Crane as well as the Woolen Mill in Bloomfield. She was also a seamstress for Chaney's Clothing Store in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Furnace Christian Church and the Furnace Ladies Aid.
Surviving relatives include: her husband William J. Parkes of Bloomfield, whom she married in August 1968; two sons, David L. Burch of Bloomfield and Owen Burch of Lake Mary, Florida; one daughter, Marjorie Anderson of Bloomfield; one step daughter, Susan Roberts of Lyons; two brothers, Max Lee Holtsclaw of Columbus and Loren Holtsclaw of Bloomfield; one sister, Correne Huffman of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and eight-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Gilbert Burch in 1964; one brother, Dale Holtsclaw; one sister, Louise Hall; and one great-granddaughter, Cassandra Brown.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. George Sites officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one-hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home.
