Lady Miners defeat North Knox
Linton-Stockton made the most of five hits as the Lady Miners defeated host North Knox 4-2 in a high school softball game Wednesday night.
Izzy Carpenter, Jenica Ringo and Jenn Suthard each had a double for the winners, who improved to 13-10.
Hannah Gennicks and Brooze Baize both singled for the Lady Miners.
Brittany Burris picked up an RBI with a sacrifice bunt. Bri Ward was credited with an RBI with a fielder's choice.
Ringo's two-bagger drove in two runs.
Tiffany Farmer, Burris, Ward and Baize all scored.
"I was very pleased with our effort on offense," said Linton-Stockton coach Jill Flater. "If you look down our line-up from 1-9, everybody contributed, whether it was with a hit, sacrifice bunt, stolen base or fielder's choice. We had three sacrifice bunts. We had girls get on tonight and we moved them around.
"We only had five hits, but I was very pleased with the job we did at the plate."
Carpenter fanned six and did not issue a walk. She raised her record to 13-9.
Linton-Stockton's JV team improved to 12-3 with a 3-1 victory. Megan Barnes was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Miners will conclude the regular season at 5;30 p.m. today at Loogootee.
