Garland Hasler, 88, of Bloomfield and formerly of Lyons, passed away May 17, 2007 at Autumn House in Viera, Fla.
He was born May 30, 1918 in Greene County, the son of William Fredrick (WF) Hasler and Nona (Humerickhouse) Hasler.
He was a life-long farmer in Lyons and Newberry with many friends and neighbors. He was married 65 years to his wife, Virginia.
A world traveler, he felt the most comfortable on rural Greene County roads in his white international scout. He was the past Grandmaster of Newberry's Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree of the York Rite in Bloomington, a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and many farming organizations.
Survivors include his sister, Opal Soliday of Lyons; daughter, LaVerne (Hasler) Laxen of Houston, Texas; son, Dwight Hasler of Melbourne, Fla.; and son, Donald Hasler of Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Samford) Hasler; brother, David Hasler; and sister, Alice (Bailey) Mural.
Funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. David Owen officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel cemetery in Lyons.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be given to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
