Alberta L. Deckard, 90, of Bloomington, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville.
She was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Lyons, the daughter of Thomas A. and Bertha Alice (Cooper) Lindsey.
A graduate of Bloomington High School, she attended Indiana University and retired from the city of Bloomington where she was city controller in the Utilities Department. She was a former president and district director for the Business Professional Women. She was a member of the Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: two sons, Brad Deckard of Bloomington and Thomas Deckard and his wife, Melinda K., of Centerville; a niece, Betty Allen, and her husband, Lester, of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Joel Deckard of Centerville, Ethan Deckard of Bloomington, Cody Deckard of Bloomington and Adam Deckard of Centerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest "Frosty" Deckard in 1997; three brothers, Cletis, Wilfred and Kenneth Lindsey; two sisters Myrthel James and Ruth Sims, as well as her parents.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington, with Dr. James Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service Tuesday.
