Samuel Leon Hale, 80, of Harrisburg, Ill., passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1926 in Sullivan to the late Ewell Otto and Elsie (Wolfe) Hale.
He was a coal miner at Peabody Coal Company in Shawneetown, and he pastored a church in Marion for several years.
Surviving family members include his wife, Joyce Hale of Harriburg; daughter, Judy (David) Horton of Eldorado; son, Steve (Mitzi) Hale of Eldorado; daughter, Janet (Greg) Lewis of Harrisburg; daughter, Jennifer White of Eldorado; two sisters, Margaret Ball of Linton and Imo Carisle of Dugger; grandchildren, Samantha (Alfred) Printup, Shane Hale, Emily (Jamie) Lambert, Brody Hale, Matthew (Naomi) Lewis, Michelle Lewis, Dianne Lewis, Daniel Lewis, Seth White, and Nathan White; one great-grandchild, Gabrielle Printup.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, Ill., with. the Rev. Harold Miller officiating and assisted by the Rev. David Mays and Rev. Paul Alumbaugh.
Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
