Union (Dugger) made strides despite coming up on the short end of a 184-188 score to host North Knox in a high school boys golf match at Bicknell Country Club Friday.

"We made a big step forward by lowering our team score by 20 strokes," said Union (Dugger) coach George Sly. "North Knox has been quite strong over the past few years and it was encouraging to be able to give them a challenge."

Jeremy Hudson of North Knox was low medalist with a nine-hole total of 42.

For the Bulldogs, Bubbi Lucas and Taylor House each shot 46, Blane Boyd 47, Dreyson Boyd scored with a 49.

Also for Union (Dugger), Logan Chesterfield had a 52, Zach Dunder 64, Caleb Hale 65 and Keith Fulford shot 70.

"Hopefully, as the weather improves, and we get in more practice we will continue to improve," said Sly.

The Bulldogs play today at Clay City.

"They are strong this year and very difficult to beat on their home course," said Sly, whose Bulldogs are 0-4.
