Lydia Bell Roberts, 85, Russiaville, passed away at 4:33 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Owensburg to Thomas and Epsie (Bruce) Roberts. She married E. Ray Roberts on Nov. 5, 1938. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1993.
She was a homemaker and had worked during the war at Powder Plant in Jeffersonville and Delco Radio in Kokomo. She graduated from Crabbe High School in Owensburg.
She was a member of Kentucky Ridge Church and attended First Baptist Church in Russiaville.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois Johnson and son-in-law, Jack, Russiaville; a son, Mark Roberts, Russiaville, her grandchildren, Jami Cherry, Springfield, Ill., Charles Cherry and wife, Mary Ann, Springfield, Ill., Tom Cherry and wife, Linda, Paoli, Ill., Alain (Duc-Van) Nguyen and wife, Jennifer, Pekin, Ill., Matt Johnson, Marty Johnson, wife Jamie, Mark Johnson, all of Russiaville; a sister, Roxie Lee, Kokomo; sister-in-law, Ruth Roberts, Greentown; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, who was born on April 13, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her children, Norma Cherry, Max Roberts, Tommy Ray Roberts; grandson, Michael Johnson; four brothers and two sisters.
Service is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. The Revs. Ron DeGraaff and Chris Tjapkes will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
