Elbert B. (Slim) McCammon, 96, of Paxton, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.
He was born in Paxton on Sept. 24, 1910 to Jesse and Rosie McCammon.
He served as postmaster at Paxton for 42 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the former Paxton Church of Christ and more recently attended Oakland Church of Christ.
Survivors include one sister Lois Van Meter of Bloomington; three sons and wives Chester and Donna of Linton, Leland and JoAnn of Cloverdale, and Norman and Lisa of Sullivan. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kathy and (Bill) Morrison, Bradley and (Luanne) McCammon, Brian and (Cara) McCammon, Scott and (Jamie) McCammon; seven great-grandchildren, Jared, Jason, Kelsey, Carley, Lane, Lincoln and Bryce.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabelle and his parents, Jesse and Rosie McCammon and step-mother Mae McCammon.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Banks and Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan with Bro. Allan Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
