Herbert L. Ellis, 79, of Linton, passed away at 2:54 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Farmersburg on Oct. 15, 1927 to Herbert J. and Sara Smith Ellis.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a member of the American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in Linton, Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellow, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Linton.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathryn "Kay" Rocksberry Ellis, of Linton; two sons, Don Ellis of Odon and Wayne Ellis of Elnora; a step-son, David Goodman, of Los Angeles, CA; two daughter, Sherry Beck of Elnora and Ronda Franke of Lake St. Louis, MO; two step-daughters, Donna Kay Goodman of Linton and Lisa Anderson of Spencer; two brothers, Jack Ellis of Sacramento, CA and Tillman Ellis of Georgia' nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Bishop Robert Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Woodward Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of Linton American Legion Post No. 22.
