Garold L. Hampton, 71, of Bloomfield passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1935 in Champaign, Ill., he was the son of the Rev. Creed and Helen (Reedy) Hampton.
He was retired from the United States Air Force. He also worked as an electronic technician, was also a minister with churches in Brown's Valley, Ind., Worthington; Waldron and Switz City. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bloomfield where he serves an elder. He was also a member of the American Legion in Worthington.
Surviving family include: his wife Wanda E. (Bothast) Hampton of Bloomfield; children, Candy Coffman of Indianapolis, Janet Basye of Bloomfield, Tina Bays of Worthington, Denise Reynolds of Brownsburg, Beth Norris of Bloomfield and Melissa Pinaire of Amboy;15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Loren Hampton of Greenwood; three sisters Carolyn Forsyth of Greenfield, Cheryl Wheelden of Kissimmee, Fla., and Phyllis Wasson of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Richard Lee Hampton.
Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Bloomfield First Christian Church with the Rev. Danny Holtsclaw and the Rev. Dave Wilde officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday at College Corner Cemetery in West College Corner, Indiana with full Military Graveside services.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the church.
