Norma Geanne Dyar, 77, Las Vegas, NV, passed away Jan. 18, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 22, 1929 in Worthington.
She graduated from the Indianapolis City Hospital School of Nursing with her RN and later from George Washington University School of Nursing in Washington, DC, with her specialty in anesthesiology. She spent her first post as a nurse at the Miami General Hospital Emergency Room in Miami Beach, FL and subsequently entered the United States Navy Nurse Corps, specializing in anesthesiology. Her Navy duty stations were varied and included 29 Palms, California; Great Lakes, Michigan; Pensacola, Florida; Miami, Florida as well as a tour of duty in Morocco. She retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander.
She was a member of the First Church of Religious Science and a plank member of the Navy Nurse Corp Association. She had been a member of the Retired Officers Club, the Republican Women of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Towne Club and a member of the Valley of Fire Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include: a niece, Lynda Moses of Worthington; nephew and wife Robert Dana and Christy Moses of Avon; a great nephew Brian Broshears of Linton; a great nephew and wife Evan and Lindsey Broshears and their son Trevor, also of Linton; and a great niece Tiffany Moses of Atlanta, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Ray Dyar and Aimee May Dyar Fulk, her only sister Betty Jo Dyar Moses and brother in law, Dr. Robert E. Moses.
Private memorial services were held in Las Vegas on Jan. 25. Services will also be held in her hometown of Worthington at a later date.
