Kenneth S. Meek, 88, of Linton, passed away at 1:32 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
He was born June 17, 1918, in Maysville, Mo., the son of Elza & Jennie (Shaw) Meek.
An U.S. Army veteran of World World II and the Korean War, he retired from the United States Postal Service after serving as Postmaster at Amity, Mo. He was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church, an associate member of the Lakeland, Fla., Methodist Church, a member of the Amity, Missouri Lyons Club, a lifetime member of the VFW, was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margaret M. (Masner) Meek of Linton; three sons, Terry K. Meek and his wife, Jan, of Linton; Barry Meek and his wife, Gay Lynn, of Bloomington, Ill., and Kevin Meek and his wife, Kim, of Winterhaven, Fla.; a brother, Milton Meek of Holtville, Calif.; six grandchildren, Tim, Amber, Kaleb, Kolin, Kane, and Christa; and six great-grandchildren, Isabel, Grant, Truman, Carter, Charis, and Brynn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred White and Evelyn McWilliams; two brothers, Harold Meek and Homer Meek; and his parents.
Memorial service will be conducted at a later date at Maysville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Maysville, Mo.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Greene County Foundation for the Jennie Shaw Meek Scholarship.
