Robert "Popeye" Wright, 81, of Brazil passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
Born April 20, 1925 in Switz City, he was the son of Robert Sampson and Lillie Mae (Johnson) Wright.
He retired in 1975 as an ordnance worker at NWSC Crane and he retired from the United States Army on April 20, 1985. He was a life member of the VFW in Worthington.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Lou (Hill) Wright of Brazil; two daughters, Karen Elaine Basey of Indianapolis and Kathy Elaine Lambert of Dunedin, Fla.; one son, Randall Griffith of Brazil; three grandchildren, Dawn (Mark) Smith of Indianapolis, Corey and Casey Lambert of Dunedin, Florida; one great-grandson Mark Smith Jr. of Indianapolis; one sister, Thira Frye of Switz City; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Switz City Full Gospel Church in Switz City with Rev. Sam Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Switz City Cemetery with a military graveside service.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the church.
