Margy Jean Overstreet, 81, of Linton, passed at 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Vinton, Iowa on Feb. 21, 1925, the daughter of Joseph Owen and Zola Florence (Long) Woods.
She and her family moved to Linton from Chicago, Ill. in 1970. With her husband, Jim, she built, owned, and operated the Dairy Queen and Roller Room, both in Linton, for several years. She later retired and remained a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Regina A. Jones and husband Timothy, Rhonda L. Davis and husband Jim, and Kelly J. Gentry and husband Dennis, all of Linton; a sister, Judy Taylor of Gaylesburg, Ill.; and four grandsons, Jarrod M. Jones, Aaron J. Davis, Ross W. and Avery O. Gentry.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, James Allen Overstreet in 1987, and two brothers, George Richard and Joseph Woods.
Funeral service will be at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of Bloomington Hospital or the Saron United Church of Christ Youth Group through the funeral home.
