Charles W. "Chuck" Ballard, 77, of Robinson, Ill., passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Born June 14, 1929 in Sullivan, he was the son of James Coleman Ballard and Mary Ann Sluder Ballard.
He was employed by the Kroger Company, A&P Grocery and IGA Food Store. He then worked in saled for Prudential Insurance for 27 years and was sales manager for Prudential in Linton and Robinson, Ill. After retirement, he worked as a saleman from J.D. Mullins Co. of Palestine, Ill., for seven years. He was a member and elder emeritus at the Robinson First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He was a member of the Lincoln Trail Camper's Club, the Robinson Elks Lodge No. 1188 and the Robinson Jaycees.
He married Doris Jean Knotts on June 19, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law Steven and Vicki Ballard of Robinson; a daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Steve Eitel, of Robinson; three grandchildren and their spouses, Robb and Jennifer Kirchoff, of Robinson, Michelle and Brian Lockhart of Linton, Michael Ballard and girlfriend, Tonya Schernekau of Robinson; four great-grandchildren, Brittanie Kirchoff, Ryan Kirchoff, Preston Lockhart and Sydney Lockhart; a sister, Virginia Scully of Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ed Scully.
Funeral service was Saturday at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with the Rev. Robert Rixman officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Palestine.
