Emile Lechien, 96, of Linton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jasonville.
Born June 26, 1910 in Linton, he was the son of Adolph and Virginia Lechien.
A World War II veteran who was awarded three Bronze Stars, he formerly worked at Linton Iron and Metal where he retired in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and his family. He was a member of the Frank Courtney American Legion Post No. 22 in Linton.
He is survived by one son, Steve (Barbara) Lechien of Flower Mount, Texas; daughters-in-laws, Deloris Lechien and Sue Lechien, both of Linton; grandchildren, Rick Lechien, Dana Cubert, Robin Wren, Lorie Cullison, Lisa Ferree, Kathy Daughtery and Laura Lechien; a sister, May Nell (Bob) Nail of Linton; and 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda Storms on Nov. 3, 1978; two sons, Ronald and Jerry Lechien; two brothers, Arthur and Adolph Jr. Lechien; and two sisters, Mary Monier and Florence Tannihill.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with the Rev. David Tyra officiating. Military graveside services will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
