Iven P. Ducharme, 82 of Bloomfield, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indianapolis.
He was born in Elnora on Feb.14, 1924, the son of Frank and Phearby Ducharme.
He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 12th Engineer Battalion Division during World War II, receiving multiple medals including two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 196, VFW Post No. 15015 and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, all of Bloomfield. He was a charter member in 2001 of the National World War II Memorial. He was of the Methodist faith and retired from General Electric in Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife whom he married on Feb. 18, 1966, Sue (Fulford) Ducharme of Bloomfield; a son, Paul Ducharme (Caroline) of Linton; a daughter, Nancy Nolting (Joe) of Bloomfield; a sister, Phyllis Huffman (Bob) of Terre Haute; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Dakota, Nathaniel, and Brayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dale and Jerome Ducharme; and three sisters, Georgia Perry, Louise Hollingsworth and Irene Cooper.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 1 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Carl Leth officiating. Burial will follow at Edwardsport Town Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Bloomfield American Legion Post 196.
