Glenn "Dutch" Axe, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away at 8:49 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Jan. 4, 1918 in Bloomfield, he was the son of John W. and Mattie (Bucher) Axe.
The U.S. Army veteran of World War II was a farmer and a member of the Antioch Christian Church as well as Bloomfield American Legion Post No. 196 and the VFW Post in Worthington.
Surviving relatives include: his daughter-in-law Joetta Axe; three granddaughters Lisa Parsley, Risa Lynn Hamm, and Lori and husband Roger Sparks, of Bloomfield; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and one great-step grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn (Wright) Axe on May 8, 1998; one son Harold Dean Axe; three brothers and two sisters.
Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday with the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
